A group of citizens from Bowling Green, Bowling Green State University campus and Waterville is scheduled to rally to unveil a new geological study of the hazards of constructing the pipeline to intersect the Bowling Green Fault at the Maumee River next to the Bowling Green Water Intake/Treatment Facility across from the nearby town of Waterville. The report, prepared by a Bowling Green State University professor, calls the proposed river crossing “high risk” and discloses flaws in the environmental study performed by the pipeline company and federal agency staff.
The rally will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m., in the Roche De Bout parking area of Farnsworth Metropark at 670 S. River Road, Waterville.
United Communities for Protecting our Water and Elevating Rights (UC4POWER) is a grass roots organization of students, citizens, local officials, and scientists networking to protect water sources and communities from NEXUS, which would transmit 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of fracked gas for export from Southest Ohio to Canada for private profit. Leaders will explain the dangers of the pipeline river crossing, the need to raise public awareness, and the call to action to stop the pipeline.
