A familiar name in Bowling Green will be the guest speaker at this Thursday’s Bowling Green Kiwanis Club noon luncheon at Stone Ridge Golf Club as the club winds up its Inspirational Educator month.
Randy Gardner, the chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education, will brief his fellow Kiwanians on the state of higher education in the state.
Gardner is a former teacher, state representative and state senator before being selected for his current position in the department of higher education 14 months ago.
He served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for 20 years and the Ohio Senate for 13 years. During his 33 years representing Bowling Green and Northwest Ohio, Gardner had a 100% voting record of more than 10,000 consecutive votes.
Gardner has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in political science, both from Bowling Green State University.
