Richard A Plumb

Richard Allan Plumb, 84, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Thursday August 1, 2024. Dick was born on April 8, 1940, in Beloit, WI to the late Dale and Lucy Plumb. He was single.

Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Russell Veitch, and niece Robin Veitch, all of Bowling Green. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Lynda Abbott, of Seattle, WA, and aunt, Alice Plumb of Plymouth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his brother Robert “Bob” Plumb and mother and father Dale and Lucy Plumb.

At the age of 9 Dick moved with the family to a dairy farm they purchased near Edgerton, WI. He attended Edgerton high school, was on the wrestling team, and graduated in 1959. He worked at the General Motors Assembly plant in Janesville and Larson Canning Company in Ft. Atkinson to earn money for college. He obtained a BS degree at University of Wisconsin- River Falls in 1965. He then went to Blackhawk Technical Vocational School to get a Federal Aviation Administration airframe and powerplant license. He worked for Braniff International Airlines in Minneapolis, MN for 3 years and Miami, FL for 13 years until Braniff became the first large commercial carrier to go bankrupt in the US. Dick then went on to teach for 24 years at Miami-Dade County public schools at George T. Baker Aviation School in Miami, FL and taught students to become licensed aviation technicians. He was Dade County Vocational Teacher of the year in 1999 and a finalist for State Teacher of the year. He retired in July of 2006 and moved to Bowling Green, Ohio.

Dick loved anything mechanical and especially aviation. He enjoyed sports, was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team. Dick also enjoyed fixing up his home and working outside and around the house. His biggest love however was Jesus, getting to know him better and teaching others how to get to know him and his ways. To that end, Dick developed over 70 power point presentations which included over 10,000 slides. Dick attended Agape Church of Prayer in Bowling Green for 10 years where he served as grounds keeper and treasurer. When the church gave their property to H2O Church in March of 2017, Dick became active with H2O and was a current member of Redemption Church in Monclova, OH.

Memorial contributions may be given in Dick’s name to the Redemption Church in Monclova, Ohio 8605 Salisbury Road 43542 or H2O Church in Bowling Green.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Wood Haven Nursing and the staff at Bridge Hospice of Wood County for their loving care for Dick.

Dick donated his body to the University of Toledo Medical College. Family will be accepting friends and family on Wednesday August 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St. A Celebration of life service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Steve Whitlow will officiate.
