Richard Dean Grimm (Dick) passed away peacefully in Gilbert, Arizona on July 17, 2018 at the age of 89.
Dick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce; daughters Janet (Jeff) Drab, Denise (Gary) Ruch, and son John (Tammy) Grimm; his sister, Dorothy (Dee) Grimm-Lawrence and brother Alan (Vicki) Grimm; and also, by seven (7) grandchildren and five (5) great grandchildren.
Dick was born in 1928 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Beatrice and Walter Grimm. He graduated from Waterville High School and then Bowling Green State University, where he obtained his degree in Business. Dick married Joyce (Moss) in 1949, and they eventually raised their three (3) children in South Toledo. Two (2) years before getting married, Dick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served on active duty at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina from 1951-1953, then returned to inactive status and was discharged in 1965.
In 1988, Dick retired from his role as Finance Officer at Libbey Owens Ford, where he worked for 35 years. In the years following his retirement, time was split between Whitehouse, Ohio and Mesa, Arizona and spent on his favorite activities, including golf, tennis and softball.
Dick was a loving husband whose loyalty and passion to family, friends and those around him was widely known and recognized. He was a sports enthusiast, belonged to the American Legion Post 384 in Whitehouse, Ohio and was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Toledo.
Visitation will take place Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd., Waterville, Ohio. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning at 10:00 am in the funeral home followed by burial in Highland Memory Gardens.
