Hearts were once again reunited when our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend returned to his heavenly home. Robert “Red” Beeker, age 88 of Pemberville, OH passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, one month after saying goodbye to his beloved wife, Carol. He was born on August 21, 1929 in Pemberville, OH, to Christian and Helen (Zimmerman) Beeker. On June 30, 1949 he married the love of his life Carol Samson in Pemberville. They would raise two daughters and celebrate 69 years of marriage together. Red worked as a carpenter, first at the Pemberville Lumber Company while he was still in high school and later as a custodian for Pemberville, Eastwood and Webster Schools for a number of years. He would go onto work at St. Charles Hospital in 1971 until retirement in 1988 as head of carpentry and maintenance. Red was a past member of the Pemberville Village Council and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church having served as a deacon. He enjoyed camping, was an avid card player and belonged to numerous card clubs. Red remodeled homes and tinkered on various projects always staying busy. He traveled the U.S and Europe enjoying his time in Germany and Switzerland. Red’s joy was his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Carol took each grandchild on a special vacation that remained as memorable to Red and Carol as it was to each child.
Red is survived by his brother: Dick Beeker of Pemberville, OH, daughter: Deborah (Bob) Frakes of Bowling Green, OH, grandsons: Matthew (Melissa) Frakes of Rocky River, OH, Ryan Frakes of Bowling Green, OH, granddaughters: Lisa (Pat) Carney, Emily Beeker and Allison (Dan) Lamb all of Bowling Green, OH, great-grandchildren: Shawn, Madison, Lauren, McKenzie, Blake and Nora. In addition to his wife Carol, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Linda Beeker, his parents and Sister, Shirley Hetzer.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. A funeral service will be at the funeral home 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 with additional visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Matthew Musteric will be officiating. There will be a coffee hour at the Beeker family home in Pemberville immediately following the cemetery committal service.
