Rodney Gus Goebel, 74, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away May 31, 2023. He was born June 13, 1948 in Bowling Green to the late Gus and Lucy (Morison) Goebel. He married Diane Rife on February 24, 1968 and she survives in Bowling Green.
Rod served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Deputy for the Wood County Sheriff’s Office for over 30 years before retiring. He attended the 144th session of the National FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. Rod was a member of the Bowling Green AMVETS, he was a Freemason and a Shriner. His pride and joy was serving on the Wood County Honor Detail who provide military funeral honors funeral for Veterans.
Rod loved to golf and was a member of the Bowling Green Country Club. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family.
Along with his wife of 55 years, Diane, Rod is survived by his children Gustin Goebel of Parma Heights, Ohio and Cindy Goebel of Bowling Green, Ohio, grandchildren Meghan Marie Goebel and Gustin Spencer Goebel and sister Judy (Dale) Googins.
A celebration of Rod’s life will be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Wood County Honor Detail.
