Ronald Smith

Ronald Charles Smith, 84, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Friday, March 9, 2018.  Ron was born on April 9, 1933 to the late Eugene and Helen (Boes) Smith in Bloomville, Ohio. He married the late Ruth Catherine Hohman on January 16, 1954 at Saint Boniface Church in New Riegel, Ohio.

Ron is survived by his daughters: Karen (Bill) Herald of Bowling Green; Linda McKendrick of Missouri; Lynette (Julian Siweck) Oberhouse of Pemberville, & Lisa (Tom) Westrick of Arizona; sons: Larry (Amy) Smith & Steve (Rhonda Garvey) Smith both of Bowling Green, and sister: Sue Hopple, of Republic.  Along with his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by his brother-in-law: Don Hopple, & son-in-law: Ed McKendrick.

After graduating from Bloomville High School in 1952, he operated the family farm. Ron attended Bowling Green State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1970.  Ron was a farmer, a chemist and a real estate investor.  He was active in his church, St. Aloysius, and the Diocese of Toledo, participating in the Retrouvaille, Cursillo, Renew, and DeColores programs.  Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a counselor at The Link.  He was an avid reader and a tinkerer who liked to work on a variety of things.  He will be dearly missed.

Visitation for Ron will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM.   Ron’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 150 South Enterprise Street, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.  Interment will immediately follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
