Rose (Misko) Gravel of Bowling Green, Ohio, died Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland, Ohio.
Rose was born on July 2, 1920 to Zalfa (Sophia, nee Terrangi) and Antoni Misko in Yorkville, Ohio.Rose’s parents immigrated from the Ukraine. Education was very important to Rose’s parents. Having immigrated from Ukraine in 1911, they made sure all nine children graduated from high school. Following graduation Rose moved to Lima, Ohio to work at Westinghouse during World War II and help with the war effort. Having brothers that served in the war, Rose was proud to be able to be apart of the support for the troops.
Rose married Robert Meade Gravel in 1945. They moved to Bowing Green, Ohio and were the owners of Gravel’s Television Sales and Service from 1949-1979. The business ended upon Robert’s death in March, 1979. Rose then worked at Uhlman’s, from 1979 to 1996. She then retired to manage her income properties.
Rose was a member of First Christian Church and Christian Women’s Club.
The family would like to thank the staff at Belmont Tower for their wonderful care of Rose and for the many residents, family members, and friends who visited Rose during her time in Ashland.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Joan; mother, Zelfa (Sofia, nee Terrangi) Misko; father, Antoni Misko; sisters, Anna and Kathryn; brothers, Steve, John, Tony Jr., Mike and George. She is survived by her sister, Dr. Mary Becker of Corvallis, Oregon; son, William (Angela) Gravel of Livonia, Michigan; daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Castor of Ashland, Ohio; grandson, Robert (Mary Kate) Castor of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Julie (Ryan) Lawrence of New York, NY, and great grandchildren, James and Annabelle Castor.
A private ceremony for family at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory in Bowling Green will be Tuesday, May 9th, 2016 with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
