Ruth Herr

Ruth E. Herr was born on April 30, 1921 to Bernard and Carrie (Mitchell) Kyer. She was born in Camden on Gauley, West Virginia. Ruth was one of 16 children, the baby of the family. Her family moved to the Toledo area, based on employment.

Ruth worked at the Toledo Airway assembly plant as a young woman, at which she met fellow employee Harlan (Bud) Herr. Bud had recently returned from the war, and Ruth often reminisced (with a twinkle in her eyes) that he was the “most handsome man” she’d ever seen. After several proposals to Ruth from Bud, they wed: Ruth became a dedicated farm wife and devoted mother.

Ruth passed from this world surrounded by her loving and devoted daughter Linda and her son-in-law Don Hertzfeld. As she joins Bud (deceased 1991) she leaves behind 9 great-grandchildren (10th on the way) from her beloved grandkids. Ruth loved her many friends, discussing politics, and homemaking. But above all, she loved family. And it is returned ten fold. We will miss you, Gram.

A private memorial will be held. The family wishes to express gratitude to Wood Haven Health Care, Bowling Green.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, Bowling Green.
