School lockdown lifted; cell phone locator shows man with AR-15 left BG (updated)

A suicidal man reportedly with an AR-15 prompted a lockdown at three Bowling Green schools midday today (May 21).

At approximately 11:20 am, the Bowling Green Police Division was contacted by the Henry County Sheriff Office regarding a suicidal male in possession of an AR-15 rifle at City Park in Bowling Green.  Officers were dispatched to the area and began trying to locate the subject.  The Bowling Green City Schools were notified of the incident and three schools near the park, Conneaut Elementary, the high school, and middle school, were put on lockdown.

The lockdown was lifted at about 12:15 p.m. when police using information from the subject’s cell phone determined he had headed back to Henry County.

Henry County Sheriff was contacted and deputies there have located the subject and are handling the incident.

Bowling Green Police Lt. Dan Mancuso said around 12:15 p.m. that the lockdown was lifted after it was determined that the subject with the gun had left the area.

BG Superintendent Francis Scruci said that everyone in the school buildings was safe, with the lockdown done as a precaution.
