Scott Eugene Brodt passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Wasilla, Alaska, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 18, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Jane and Melvin Brodt. Scott married his lifelong love, Linda Leady, on December 13, 1982. Together, they raised two sons, Geric and Spencer Brodt. Scott’s dedication to his family was evident in all he did.
Scott was a graduate of Bowling Green High School (1971) and Bowling Green State University (1976) with a Bachelor’s in Philosophy. He went on to earn a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Oregon in 1991. His accomplishments resulted in his distinguished 25-year career at McCool Carlson and Green and left a lasting mark on the state of Alaska, where he spent 45 years of his life.
Scott was known for his hard work, loyalty, kindness, and generosity. His passion for perfection was reflected in his work and personal life. Over his 70 years, he built four homes—one in Colorado and three in Alaska. He also undertook a complete redesign of a home in Rabbit Creek where he and Linda raised their sons. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and hockey and sharing his love of the great outdoors with them. Scott was a hunter, fisherman, hiker, and cross-country skier, with a profound knowledge of Alaska’s natural beauty.
Scott is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Leady, and his father, Melvin Brodt. He is survived by his mother, Jane Brodt; his sister, Susan Brodt, and her husband, Alan Cohen; his nephew, Jordan Cohen; and his sons, Geric and Spencer Brodt. Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His ashes will be scattered at Horseshoe Lake and Sunrise, Alaska, reuniting him with Linda in the places they cherished.
