Shirley B McGeein

Shirley B. McGeein, 87, passed away on November 19, 2022. She was born on August 10, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio to Carl and Opal (Smith) Rublaitus. Shirley was married to Robert McGeein for 53 years and they raised three kids: Cindy Zellers (Scott), Debbie Pahl (Ron) and Scott McGeein (Laurel).

Shirley will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, as well as a dear friend to many. Shirley was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, many of whom live close by and often visited and enjoyed a root beer float with grandma.

Shirley is predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents, her brother Donald Rublaitus, and one grandchild, Adam McGeein. The family takes comfort in knowing that Shirley is once again with her husband and others who have passed before her.

Shirley worked at the BGSU library for many years and at BGHS until her retirement. She loved interacting with students and faculty alike. After retirement, Shirley and Bob enjoyed traveling with friends and beach trips which included many laughs and memories with their grandchildren. Together Shirley and Bob taught us to laugh and to cherish time with family, and for that we are forever grateful.

Later in life, Shirley kept busy by volunteering at the Wood County Hospital, St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church and at the polling stations on election days. Shirley loved spending time with friends especially attending church and lunches and dinners together. Shirley rarely missed an opportunity to visit the casino.

The family would like to thank the care givers Brookdale Senior Living in Bowling Green for their care and support while Shirley was a resident.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the MLD Foundation 21345 Miles Drive, West Linn, OR 97068 or www.mldfoundation.org/donations. If you are not in a position to make a donation, the family asks that you simply be kind to others especially to those in need as well as those caring for the less fortunate.
