Jeff Klein, Emergency Management Agency director for Wood County, has issued the following advisory:
Wood County is under a “Slight Risk” for severe weather this evening (Sept. 3, 2019). A cold front will be moving into our area around 6 p.m. bringing with it the potential for a few severe thunderstorms. At this time the strongest chance for severe weather will be between 9 p.m. and midnight. There is a potential for damaging winds up to 65 mph and quarter size hail. Utility disruption with loss of electricity can be expected. Luckily, the potential for an isolated tornado is low.
With the projected time of the most severe weather being after sunset, we are urging everyone to monitor local conditions. Make sure your flashlights works, cell phones are charged and set to ring (not vibrate) should the Countywide CodeRED Mass Notification be needed for a weather warning.
We will be monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.
