Southeastern Wood County is at a ‘slight risk’ for severe storms

Jeff Klein, Emergency Management Agency  director for Wood County, has issued the following advisory:

The most southeastern portion of Wood County is under the elevated status of “Slight Risk”  for severe weather today.

Rain is expected throughout today with the heaviest times between 3- 8 p.m..  Storms look to develop by afternoon, with the best chances between 5-10 p.m. this evening.  These storms will be capable producing isolated damaging gusts and hail, although the risk for any tornados will be more focused to the south of Wood County. Rainfall of up to 0.50” is likely, although locally higher amounts will be possible in thunderstorms.

We encourage everyone to monitor conditions today for any severe weather.  As we have been discussing during our safety talks with local groups, when these briefings are issued is the time to plan and prepare.
