Stewart Joseph Wilkins (Stew)

Died December 29, 2021 Bowling Green, Ohio
Born to and preceded in death by his father Stewart William Wilkins and mother Anne Wilkins. His brother William “Bill” Wilkins also preceded him in death. He was a longtime radio DJ and personality, better known as “Bill Stewart,” having worked in Ohio, Michigan, Vermont, and Oklahoma. Notably in Toledo, Ohio, for WSPD, WQRN, and WTOD. Awarded the 1983 Billboard Radio national nomination. His voice and communication skills, attached with his sense of humor, were his gift that would lighten all he interacted with. In addition to a career in radio, Stew was also a television voiceover narrator, writer for Toledo Free Press, salesman, EMT/EMS worker, and ProMedica employee.
Stew was a lifetime fitness advocate, runner, and martial artist. He earned his second degree black belt in Aikido alongside helping his son John earn the same. He mentored his daughter Christi with running and astrology. He was a basketball player and took piano lessons with his son Tom. He enjoyed a peaceful life treasuring his wife Mary, who cared dearly with love for him until his end. His highest devotion was to his children, wife, and family. Other hobbies included photography, Hospice volunteer, Fantasy Football, dogs, and reading.
Survived by his loving wife Mary Wilkins of 46 years and his three children John Wilkins, Thomas Wilkins, and Christin Wilkins.
In lieu of flower memorial contributions may be gifted to St. Aloysius Catholic Church or Bridge Hospice.
A Funeral Mass for Stew will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Aloysius Church, 150 S. Enterprise Street, Bowling Green, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, www.hannemanfuneralhomes.com.
