The lights on the Stroh Center, named for Stroh and his late wife Mary Lu who donated $8 million to the project, will be turned off tonight (9/23) in his honor.

Rogers said Stroh “loved BGSU and this community.”

He was awarded an honorary doctorate from BGSU in 2002 and will be inducted in the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame as previously announced this fall.

He served on the university’s Board of Trustees from 1993 to 2002, and served two years as chair.

Rogers said that Stroh first came to campus when he was doing color commentary for regional basketball games for WERM-AM, a Wapakoneta-based radio station.
