From SUSIE’S COATS FOR KIDS AND HANNAH’S SOCKS
As the winter months approach, many families in our community face the challenge of keeping their children warm.
If you or someone you know needs warm clothing for the colder seasons, Susie’s Coats for Kids and Hannah’s Socks, Inc. are here to help. They will host the 18th Annual Distribution Day on Saturday, September 21 at Jones Leadership Academy, 430 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, OH 43604, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This year’s event offers more than just warmth. The first 300 families will receive tickets to that night’s Toledo Mud Hens game, along with a food voucher, courtesy of Designetics. Additionally, the Toledo Zoo is generously providing 500 one-day admission tickets, valid for a year, and the Toledo Metroparks is offering 500 admission tickets to The Ribbon Ice Rink at Glass City Metropark.
“We are thrilled to launch our annual distribution event, ensuring that every child in our community has access to warm, quality winter apparel,” said Executive Director Susan Perry. “As the colder months approach, it’s our priority to support families by providing essential items that offer both comfort and protection. Together, we’re making sure no child faces the winter without the warmth they deserve.”
In addition to new coats, hats, gloves, and socks, families will receive new undergarments, goody bags, pajamas, dental hygiene products, and new or gently used shoes. Smoke detectors will also be available from the Toledo Fire Department. This year’s event is made possible thanks to our partners: Bags of Love, Let’s Build Beds, The Shoe Shack, Connecting Kids to Meals, and Build the Children.
Documentation of need is not required; however, children must be present to receive items, or documentation must be provided.
Susie’s Coats for Kids, founded in 2006, provides 6,000 items of warm apparel each winter to those in need within a 50-mile radius of Toledo.
Founded in 2004, Hannah’s Socks annually provides more than 55,000 pairs of socks to those in need within the same region.
