A Bowling Green man who left his Ford Mustang running and unlocked at a gas station on East Wooster Street on Saturday evening walked back outside to find his car gone.
The man told Bowling Green Police officers that he had noticed two males standing outside a Chevy Tahoe, with the hood open and jumper cables attached to a Lexus sedan.
When the BG man walked out of the gas station, the Tahoe was still there, but his car and the Lexus were gone.
BG Police ran the registration of the Tahoe, and found it had been stolen out of Toledo – and had a license plate from a Ford Fusion in Maumee.
A license plate camera caught images of the Mustang and Lexus on East Wooster Street, heading eastbound near Interstate 75. BG Police put out a BOLO (be on the lookout) for the Mustang.
Approximately 20 minutes later, a state trooper with the Findlay post located the vehicle and took the driver, Dayon T. Lesley, 25, of Toledo, into custody. Troopers stated several suspected narcotics were located on the driver, who was also in possession of the Tahoe keys.
Troopers stated the driver reportedly admitted to being in possession of the Tahoe and admitted to knowing the vehicle was stolen. He was transported to Hancock County Justice Center where he was charged with receiving stolen property. Lesley also had a felony warrant out of Lucas County.
The driver of the Lexus, who appeared to be connected to the Mustang theft, was not found.
