Take Back the Night set for Sunday at BGSU

March during Take Back the Night event in 2022.

From THE COCOON

Bowling Green State University’s Center for Women and Gender Equity and The Cocoon are hosting the return of Bowling Green’s Take Back the Night on Sunday, April 14 in the Pallister Conference Room in Jerome Library from 5-10 p.m.

The event gives people a chance to show support for survivors of sexual violence, share their storis of survivorship, or help spread awareness about the issue in the community.

Events, speakers, performances, and community art making projects will be featured at various times throughout the night, with breaks between each section of the event to give attendees time to decompress between activities.

Along with the programming in Pallister and the tables featuring on-campus and community resources, there will be a march around campus from 7:15-8:15 p.m.

Accessibility options such as space in a golf cart are available for this activity. Resolute Interpreting is providing American Sign Language services.

This event is open to everyone, seeking to center and empower the voices of survivors with the Survivor Speak Out at 8:30 p.m.

The CWGE supports students, staff, faculty, and community partners of BGSU with programs and services that advance the understanding of and potential for gender equity, guided by a feminist lens that is intended to facilitate a process for the members of our community to become intentional learners, engaged citizens, and social change leader for gender equity in higher education and beyond.

The Cocoon was founded in 2005 and provides safety, healing, and justice for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse and their families, as well as educational outreach services throughout the community. It is Wood County’s only comprehensive and holistic domestic and sexual violence agency, serving more than 900 people each year
