The Cocoon outlines response in face of COVID-19

(Submitted by The Cocoon)

The Cocoon, Wood County’s only domestic and sexual violence agency, remains committed to serving survivors throughout our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As an agency providing essential services per the government’s current guidelines, The Cocoon’s 24/7 crisis line remains available by calling 419-373-1730 and selecting option #2. Survivors needing emergency safe shelter or other services should call this number to be immediately connected to an
advocate.

Domestic and sexual violence advocates remain available to provide support via phone, assist in securing Civil Protection Orders, help survivors secure basic care needs and meet survivors at the hospital.

The following precautions are immediately being taken to ensure the health and safety of those we serve as well as our staff and volunteers. They include but are not limited to:

  • Increased frequency of cleaning and sanitizing our facilities to decrease the likelihood of a Coronavirus related incident.
  • Employees and volunteers exhibiting any signs of illness will be required to stay home.
  • Our administration office remains closed to all visitors until further notice.
  • Should you wish to donate basic personal care or sanitizing products, please see our Facebook page wish list published each Monday for current needs and our Amazon Wish List link. Items ordered via our Smile account will be shipped directly to us.
  • If you want to donate but prefer not to order online, call our office at 419-373-1730, ext. 1002 to make arrangements. Our building will not be open for unscheduled drop offs.
  • Cancellation of events until further notice, including Unmasquerade,
previously scheduled for Thursday, April 30, as well as the May 16
Community Awareness Event at Schedel Gardens.
  • If you wish to make a donation in lieu of attending the Unmasquerade fundraiser, visit our website at www.thecocoon.org/donate or call our office at 419-373-1730, ext. 1002. Donations via mail should be sent to The Cocoon, PO Box 1165, Bowling Green, OH 43402.
  • Cancellation of non-essential meetings, both on and off-site
  • Should anyone residing in emergency safe shelter exhibit signs of COVID-19, our staff will immediately consult with the Wood County Health Department and implement isolation procedures.
