Three in custody after pursuit related to theft ends in crash

The suspects face charges following a pursuit this morning involving four law enforcement agencies.

At 7:17 a.m., a theft was reported the Wal-Mart in Bowling Green. 

Information regarding the incident was relayed to Wood County Sheriff’s Office.  A detective sergeant with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office in an unmarked vehicle observed the vehicle on Gypsy Road.

Two Wood County deputies located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on I-75 northbound near the Sugar Ridge Rd overpass and a pursuit ensued. Troopers responded to the area to assist and took lead in the pursuit near state Route 582. 

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle sideswiped another vehicle and continued northbound on I-75. 

The suspect vehicle crashed into the ditch on I-75 north of the 475 split. One of the suspects fled on foot toward the area of  Ohio 199 and Eckel Junction Road in Perrysburg.

Police officers and Perrysburg Township Police responded to that area and the suspect was taken into custody by officers. 

Two suspects remained with the vehicle and were taken into custody by deputies and troopers. 

All have been incarcerated at the Wood County Jail.

The lead agency in regard to this incident is the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and they are handling the charges regarding the pursuit.

The crash is being investigated by troopers from the Bowling Green Ohio State Highway Patrol Post.

A report for the initial theft incident was taken by the Bowling Green Police Division.

  • Bricesen Embry 29 Toledo – Failure to Comply/Theft
  • Tiffanie Fears 28 – Complicity to Theft
  • Damon Gibson 27 – Complicity to Theft
