Timothy Lee Riddle, born April 8, 1965, passed away among friends and family at the Northwest Hospice Center in Perrysburg on November 22, 2023 at the age of 58.
Tim was adopted by Ted and Betty Riddle of Waterville as a baby, joining his sister, Lorrie, who was 5 years old. Ted Riddle died unexpectedly Mother’s Day weekend 1971, when Tim was 6. Growing up without a father and being raised by his mother and grandmother was hard. As a kid, Tim loved super heroes, but Batman was always his favorite (which might explain that Batman tattoo!). Tim attended Anthony Wayne High School (class of ‘83), and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BGSU. His major area of study was horror fiction, which should not surprise anyone who knew him. He especially loved horror authors HP Lovecraft and early Stephen King. An avid reader and book collector, he read all genres of fiction and non-fiction. He worked on an MLS degree in order to become a librarian, but was unable to complete it after he had shingles.
Naturally, Tim loved horror films, his favorite being Salem’s Lot. Tim also loved Cedar Point, fairs, beer fests, music, Star Wars, old movies, and cats! Although he had several cats through his life, his 3 cats Jake, Calvin, and Tabitha have been with him for many years and were his constant companions.
Tim was an amazing son to his mother, Betty, helping her through years of kidney disease before she passed away in 2007. A few years ago, he was able to identify his birth mother, but she had passed away by the time he did so. Learning about her identity was very important to him.
Tim worked for 15+ years at The Anderson’s in Maumee and made many wonderful friendships there. When The Anderson’s closed in 2017, he began working at Rosenboom Machine & Tool, in BG.
Tim is survived by his sister Lorraine Miller, his brother-in-law Jason, and a niece and nephew, Annalise and Theo Miller of Hamilton, MA. He is also survived by many friends and their families who loved him and enriched his life over the years.
A Celebration of Tim’s life will be held at a later date and will be shared soon. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home Waterville Chapel, 7220 Dutch Rd. Waterville, Ohio 43566.
