The Toledo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has opened the application process for its new Young Musician’s Award. Funded through the generosity of the Stephen Stranahan family, the recipient of the award will receive up to $20,000 per year, renewable for two additional years for a maximum of $60,000 over three years.

“One of our core values at the Toledo Symphony is empowerment,” says Rachel Schultz, Director of Education for the Toledo Symphony. “We empower all in our region who are inspired to pursue music by providing guidance, learning, and resource. The Stranahan family believes that a thriving arts program helps a community flourish. Together, we are proud to play our part and help open doors for a deserving young musician from our area.”

Applications are open to candidates under the age of 25 on March 27, 2020, pursuing a career as a professional musician. Preferential treatment will be given to those musicians residing in, or with ties to, the area served by the TSO.

The award is intended to further the recipient’s musical career, including, but not limited to, college tuition, instrument purchase, studio recording time, and lessons.

Application materials are due March 27, 2020. The recipient will be notified by April 17, 2020.
