From NORTHWESTERN OHIO TRACTOR PULLER’S ASSOCIATION

On December 3, 2022, the Northwestern Ohio Tractor Puller’s Association (NWOTPA) promoter of the National Tractor Pulling Championships (NTPC) in Bowling Green, was presented with the Super Grand National Puller of the Year Award from the National Tractor Pulling Association (NTPA), the sanctioning body, in Columbus.

The award was sponsored by Excel Sportswear and presented by Patty Whitaker during the NTPA’s Appreciation Banquet. This award has been presented to NWOTPA for nine consecutive years and fifteen years overall. The Directors of the NWOTPA accepted this award on behalf of the local organization.

The local group, headquartered in Bowling Green, was founded in 1962.  The annual truck and tractor pulling event, held the third full weekend in August, draws participants and spectators from across the United States, Canada, and Europe.  The 2022 event saw 299 competitors, 588 hooks, and over 65,000 spectators for the three-day event, making it the largest truck and tractor pull event in the world.

Staffed with volunteers and staff members, known as Blue Shirts, they work diligently to ensure that the event runs smoothly and according to national rules.

As stated by NWOTPA President, David P. Schultz, this award could not be accomplished without the hard work of the Blue Shirts, office staff, fans, Pullers, and sponsors who continue to provide the best service and support any organization could ask for.

The 2023 event is scheduled for Aug. 17, 18, and 19 at the Wood County Fairgrounds, in Bowling Green.
