Troopers from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a four-vehicle minor injury crash that occurred on Interstate 75 southbound, near U.S. 6 just south of Bowling Green.
On Thursday, at approximately 3:36 p.m. a Honda Accord operated by Hunter Brinkman, 21, of Cridersville, was traveling in the left lane.
Brinkman traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck the cable median barrier, and then traveled back into the roadway, where it was struck by a Jeep Cherokee operated by Aimee Frey, 39, of Waterville, Ohio. A Freightliner Semi operated by Timothy Whisenant Jr., 52, of Lebanon Indiana, traveling in the middle lane struck Frey’s vehicle, and then struck Brinkman’s vehicle before coming to a stop in the middle lane.
Flying debris from the crash struck a Chevrolet Equinox operated by James Rankin, 54, of Hamler.
Brinkman and a passenger were transported by Mid-County EMS to Wood County Hospital with minor injuries. Minor injuries were reported by Whisenant Jr. and Rankin but neither were transported.
No injuries were reported by Frey.
The Honda Accord, the Jeep Cherokee, and the Freightliner all had major damage and had to be removed from the scene by a wrecker. The Chevrolet had minor damage from being struck by debris.
All individuals involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
Brinkman was cited for failure to control his vehicle.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours. There was heavy rainfall and wind when the crash occurred.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Mid-County EMS, Central Joint Fire, BG Towing, Wright Tire and Auto, and Pat and Sons Towing.
