Troopers respond to Otsego school bus crash

Troopers from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a non-injury crash that occurred on Forst Road at Ohio 582, in Middleton Township, this morning at approximately 7:04.

A 2014 Ford Fiesta, operated by Blake McHenry, 17 years of age, of Weston, was traveling southbound on Forst Road and struck an Otsego School Bus which was stopped at the stop sign at Route 582.

The school bus had 43 students on board. None of the students or the bus driver were injured. McHenry was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Impairment by alcohol and/or drugs is not believed to be a factor. McHenry was cited for failing to maintain assured clear distance. The Ford Fiesta sustained heavy front end damage and the school bus sustained very minor damage as a result of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Middletown Township Fire & EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Otsego School District personnel, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
