The Wood County Emergency Management Agency has issued the following advisory:
Wood County is currently under an elevated “Slight Risk” (2 of 5) for severe weather, expected from Sunday evening into Monday morning. The area southwest of Wood County, extending down to Louisiana, is under an “Enhanced Risk” (3 of 5). It will only take a slight shift northeast for this to impact Wood County.
The severity of these storms will depend on how much sunshine we receive in the afternoon. The more sunshine, the more unstable the atmosphere becomes, increasing the likelihood of severe weather.
There is potential for large hail, heavy rain, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.
We strongly encourage everyone to monitor local weather updates Sunday evening before heading to bed. Severe nighttime storms can lead to more injuries, as people may not be aware of the storm due to darkness and being asleep. Please ensure cell phones are fully charged, volume is loud enough to wake you, and emergency alerts are turned on.
