Two barns destroyed by arson near Pemberville

The State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau is asking for tips from the public regarding two intentionally set barn fires near Pemberville.

The first occurred at 2500 Elmore Road on July 21 at 1:30 a.m. The second occurred at 4911 Swan Road on July 23 at 11:30 p.m. Both barns were destroyed. The Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department responded to the fires, and the investigation is being conducted jointly by the fire department, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, and the fire marshal’s office.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the fires.
