Bowling Green Mayor Mike Aspacher swore in two new firefighters to the Bowling Green Fire Division during Monday’s City Council meeting. Bodie Bankey and Daniel Pereira have worked with the fire division for the past year, according to Fire Chief Bill Moorman.

“In that time, they have had a positive impact on every member here at Bowling Green Fire,” Moorman said.

“This first year is not easy as a recruit. You are flooded with a vast amount of information and lots of long days of hard work,” like pulling fire hose, rappelling from the Carter Park water tower, and practicing CPR again and again, the chief said.

“All this training so that when those skills are needed it all comes naturally to you,” Moorman said. “You are calm because you have confidence in yourself. You are confident because you know that your brothers and sisters are there with you and they have your back.”
