From UNIVERSITY WOMEN OF BGSU
The annual fall gathering of University Women of BGSU was held Saturday, Aug. 26, when approximately 80 members and guests gathered to kick off the organization’s 99th year. This year’s president, Becky McOmber, welcomed members and introduced speaker BGSU President Dr. Rodney Rodgers and featured speaker Olympic Gold Medalist Dave Wottle. A video of Dave’s gold medal race preceded his inspiring and entertaining talk.
Brunch was catered by the Call of the Canyon, and a raffle and silent auction followed. In addition, the four winners of the organization’s annual scholarship for non-traditional women students of BGSU were introduced. Sarah Combs, Jennifer Cothern, Tiffany Lake, and Brandy Pollick each spoke briefly about themselves and thanked the organization.
Local women who are interested in joining the organization need not be affiliated with the University. Membership allows for participation in several, varied interest groups. The membership form may be accessed at the following web site: universitywomenofbgsu.com. Membership forms must be received by Sept. 12 in order to be included in this year’s directory.
