Warren “W.E.” Low, 80, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. Warren was born to Ralph and Ila Low in Bowling Green, Ohio on May 31, 1938. Warren, or “W.E.” as he was better known, proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy on July 20, 1955. While in the Navy, W.E. was able to travel the world, serving aboard the USS Charles P. Cecil and many other vessels. W.E. was honorably discharged on May 19, 1959 and returned to Bowling Green, where he became an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1148 and AMVETS Post 711.
W.E. was a concrete mason by trade. After working in the concrete industry for Kuhlman’s in Bowling Green for many years, W.E. made his ‘mark’ as an independent contractor, building many masonry brick and concrete jobs that are still found throughout town. You’ll know his work when you see it, as it will be of exceptional quality and bear the mark ‘W.E.LOW’.
W.E. never spent his coins; he was a collector known for collecting both rare and common coins. W.E.’s favorite place to vacation was Belize and would often drive there, traveling through the South and Mexico as part of the trip. W.E. was well-known in Bowling Green and beyond, for his BBQ chicken. As such, his Memorial Service will include a chicken barbecue in his honor.
W.E. will be dearly missed by his companion Rosemary Henderson, affectionately known to him as his ‘Illinois Sugar Cookie’ after over 38 years together. He is survived by his children; Scott (Darlene) Low of Woodstock, GA, Joe (Julie) Low of Maryville, TN, R.J. (Shanon) Low of Fayette, OH, Mike (Carol) Low of Maryville, TN, Laura Low of Bowling Green, OH Lisa (Arthur) Brandon of Haskins, OH and Phillip Low of Altoona, WI, his sister Cariann Morris of Bowling Green, OH, his 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and Rosemary’s children; David Henderson, Nancy (Roger) Euler, and Mark (Carol) Henderson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Delbert Low, son Tim (Shelly) Low, and grandson Zain.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 with a chicken barbeque to follow at the Remembrance Chapel & Banquet Hall in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory at 1460 W. Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Times will be announced at a later date.
