Advancing Ohio’s bio-economy focus of ag report, May 21
Learn how CIFT is teaming up with the Texas-based ATIP Foundation, USDA Rural Development Agency and renewable energy experts to convert Northwest Ohio’s food, agricultural, and municipal waste streams from ‘trash into treasure’, using new technologies and a Geographic Information System (GIS) database of biomass inventory in the region.
The CIFT team will present a virtual progress report at the May 21Ag Breakfast Forum and discuss how they are developing this GIS system for biomass feedstock suppliers and service providers in the region, while marketing the region’s biomass resources to cutting- edge companies interested in expanding into the region.
One of only three USDA-funded pilot bio-economy studies in the country, their work has the potential to create a sustainable, scalable and replicable platform for regional economic development. This would benefit the agricultural industry as well as public and private entities and local communities within the region.
Presenters Include:
CIFT: Rebecca Singer, CEO
ATIP Foundation: Wes Jurey, CEO; Rick Brenner, Director; and Todd Campbell, Bioenergy Consultant, Of Counsel to the ATIP Foundation
Tony Logan, Renewable Energy Consultant, Columbus
Library resumes Graphic Novel Night, May 27
The Wood County District Public Library’s Graphic Novel Night book discussion will meet Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss Neil Gaiman’s Snow, Glass, Apples via Google Meet.
The library had introduced Graphic Novel Night prior to closing due to the Coronavirus pandemic crisis. “Some of our other book groups successfully transitioned to online programs, so we decided to give it a try with this one as well,” said Marnie Pratt, Assistant Coordinator of Information Services. “While the Snow White story inspired Gaiman, don’t assume Snow Glass, Apples for is children. Gaiman drew on the original Grimm Brothers’ stories, which were definitely more for adults.”
To receive instructions for joining in the Google Meet book discussion, email woodref@wcdpl.org. Download the novel either from either Hoopla—which allows multiple people to borrow eMedia titles simultaneously–or from the Ohio Digital Library—which allows only one borrower at a time for a title. Find more information on our website wcdpl.org/emedia.
