‘The Monuments Men’ is View & Chew feature, June 18
Keeping with the summer reading program theme “Color Our World,” , the North Baltimore Public Library ihas chosen “The Monuments Men” as its free monthly View & Chew movie Wednesday, June 18 with a start time of 6 pm at The Virginia Theater, 119 N. Main St.
The theater doors will open at 5:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase.
“The Monuments Men” stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, and John Goodman. Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, about an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from German thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. Simpson Garden hosts Art in the Park, June 13
The Bowling Green Arts Council and Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department will host the 11th annual Art in the Park on the grounds of Simpson Garden Park, 1291 Conneaut Avenue, on Friday, June 13 from 5-7 p.m.

The free, public event will feature live music, artists demonstrating their skills, and interactive art activities for children in a beautiful garden setting.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten celebration, June 14
Celebrate the Wood County District Public Library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Challenge graduates and participants with a family concert Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bowling Green Library Atrium.
Beverly, The Music Lady, will be putting on a family concert during this event. Enjoy classic children’s songs and movement songs in a sing-along concert for all ages. Celebrate everyone who has participated in the library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
Each family who attends will receive a copy of “You, Me, and the ABCs” by Michael Rosen (also available in Spanish).
The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is supported with a donation from Pam and Ken Frisch.
Rudolph church hosting Ice Cream Social, June 14
South Liberty United Methodist Church will hold an Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m. The church is at 7983 Potter Road, Rudolph (corner of Bays and Potter Roads).
Chicken and sloppy joe sandwiches, hotdogs, chips, homemade desserts and ice cream will be served. Carry out will be available and free will donations are accepted.
Paxton/Spangler bring jazz to Arlyn’s, June 14
The Paxton/Spangler Band will perform Saturday, June 14 from 7-10 p.m. at Arlyn’s Good Beer, 520 Hankey Ave., Bowling Green.
Tbone Paxton and RJ Spangler will bring their potent mix of swing, soul and New Orleans funk to Bowling Green.
Jeff Tucker will perform Concert in the Park, June 15
The Jeff Tucker Band will be perform a free Concert in the Park series show Sunday, June 15 at 7 p.m. on the Needle Hall stage at City Park. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be relocated to the atrium of the Veteran’s Building.
Heath Diehl will give Exchange an update on Black Swamp Players, June 17
The Exchange Club of Bowling Green will welcome Dr. Heath Diehl to its June 17 meeting at 12 p.m. at Beckett’s. Diehl will speak about the upcoming 2025-26 season of the Black Swamp Players.
The Black Swamp Players mission is dedicated to the advancement of amateur theatrics, including production of live theater as well as various educational opportunities involving the arts. The organization provides high-quality, amateur, live theater as well as creative opportunities for the casts, crews and the viewing public.
Black Swamp Players is a non-profit organization with volunteer membership being open to any person, regardless of age, religion, sexual orientation, or race.
Diehl also serves on the Wood County Humane Society Board. In his professional life, he is a teaching professor in the Honors College and Department of English at BGSU.

Bellevilles selling pork-a-leans to benefit BOOM Fest, June 18
The Belleville Brothers’ Meats’ will hold their annual Pork-A-Lean Fundraiser in support of the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks Wednesday, June 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the
Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association property on 1150 Haskins Road. This is a new location. As in previous years, this event is donation based.
The Pork-A-Lean fundraiser will be operating as a drive-through. Guests will be directed via signage on where to line up and place their order.
The 4th annual BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks will take place Thursday, July 3, at the Wood County Fairgrounds. The Festival runs 4-9 p.m. and the fireworks are launched at dusk. Admission is free

Jeanine Alberti presents her children’s book, June 20
In conjunction with Firefly Nights, Jeanine Alberti will read from her children’s book “Catching Lightning Bugs in Our Jammies” Friday, June 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Novel Blends, 116 S. Main St.
The reading will be at 6:30 p.m. with author signings and sales, before and after.
Alberti was inspired by memories of growing up in a large family in the Cleveland areas. In the summer, she said, “We were allowed to go outside in our jammies before bedtime and catch lightning bugs. I wasn’t a fan of bugs, but lightning bugs were magical, like twinkling little stars.”
Trish Flannery, a high school friend of Alberti’s, illustrated the story.
Outdoor Family Playtime on Wooster Green on Thursdays,through July 24
The Wood County District Public Library will present Outdoor Family Playtime this summer. These interactive events will be held Thursdays in June and July from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Wooster Green.
Play group games, enjoy activities with a different community partner every week, dance, listen to music, read books and more.

Memphis in the fifties comes to life in Toledo Rep musical, weekends through June 22
The Toledo Repertoire Theatre will present the musical “Memphis” weekends June 6 through June 22 at the Tenth Street stage, 16 Tenth St., Toledo.

Young readers to discuss graphic novels for kids
Students aged 5 through 11 and up are invited to a book discussion about some favorite early graphic novels at WCDPL.
Book discussions are Mondays: May 19, June 23, July 21 and Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. in The Children’s Place.
Copies of the graphic novel for each month are available for checkout from the Bowling Green Library Children’s Place Desk. Read the book and come to discuss them and other graphic novel favorites.

Just Baby ‘N Me storytimes at library on Tuesdays
Just Baby ‘N Me is a lap-sit storytime ideal for babies. This unique storytime will be on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.in The Children’s Place at the Bowling Green Library.
This lap-sit storytime is great for babies from birth through early walkers (12 months). The focus during storytime is on rhymes, songs, finger plays, and exploring short books together, and is meant to facilitate interaction between you and your baby to develop their language and early literacy skills.
Library hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays
The Wood County District Public Library is hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays at 10 beginning in the 2nd Floor meeting room.
Fiber Friends is a fun and social program that meets to chat and create. People of all skill levels are welcome. Even if someone has never picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook, this group can teach the basic skills to get started on your newest hobby.
