Wilbur among the dogs waiting for new homes at the Wood County Dog Shelter

Wilbur

Among the adoptable dogs this week at the Wood County Dog Shelter is Wilbur, an 8-9-year-old lab/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix that was brought in as a stray. He is 80 pounds, neutered, and microchipped. The shelter tried to contact his owner registered on the chip, but nobody came to claim him.

According to shelter staff, Wilbur is a super sweet boy who is laid back and walks very well on a leash. He seems to do well with the other dogs at the shelter, but it is always recommended that people bring in their dogs to make sure it is a good fit.

Wilbur would do well in a laid back home where he can go for his daily leisurely stroll and then hang out and watch TV on the couch, according to staff.

The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.

The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog license, and $75 vet voucher toward spay/neuter and vaccines if needed. The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays.
