William H. Eckert, 81, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Friday January 3, 2020. He was born on December 13, 1938 to the late Howard and Margaret (Newlove) Eckert. He married Francia Boltz on July 6, 1995, and she survives in Bowling Green.
Along with his wife, Francia, Bill is survived by his children, Bob (Emily) Eckert, of Bowling Green, Jim (Gloria) Eckert of Bowling Green, and Kathleen (Mike) Tafelski, of Perrysburg. Grandchildren, Trevor, Benjamin, Jennifer, Nicholas, Andrew, Cameron, Taylor, Hudson and Ella, 7 Great-grandchildren and many Newlove cousins.
Bill was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green, where he was involved with the Knights of Columbus and sang in the choir off and on over the years.
Bill was a proud BGSU Falcon Alumni, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business. He retired from the insurance business, in which he spent his entire career, finishing a long side son Jim at American Family Insurance. He had a passion for music, and the most beautiful voice. Along with this, he loved sports, traveling, genealogy, socializing with everyone, because he was a man who knew everyone, and attending as many sporting and school events of his grandchildren as he could.
As a father, he was never too busy for a game of catch in the yard, no matter the weather or season, coaching his son’s basketball and baseball teams, and never missed an ice skating event of his daughters. He taught us manners, courtesy and honor, all of which can and will be seen through the generations. His humor and kindness will be missed.

Visitation will be held Sunday January 12, 2020 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historic District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. A scripture service will begin at 4:00pm Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
The Funeral Mass will be held Monday January 13, 2020 at 10:00am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 150 S. Enterprise St. Bowling Green, Ohio. Father Tom McQuillen will officiate. Interment will follow at Portage Cemetery in Portage, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
