Kurt was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to loving parents Harry and Marian Roebke (both predeceased) and grew up with his sister Linda R. Schmidt (predeceased).
Kurt graduated from Bowling Green High School and attended Bowling Green State University before moving to Georgia to provide legal services to the impoverished under the AmeriCorp VISTA program. While in Chicago, he married Valerie Faye Nortman on March 1, 1996. Valerie’s mother, Rose Nortman (predeceased) was a significant part of his life. Rose was his Mother-in-Love, and he, her Son-in-Love.
Following the death of his father, Harry G. Roebke, a long-serving and popular attorney in Bowling Green, Kurt returned to his home town to live out his golden years. Kurt could often be found enjoying evening refreshments and lively conversation with his many good friends at SamB’s Restaurant.
