Woman cited for child endangering after reportedly leaving baby in running car at Walmart

A Weston woman was cited for child endangering after she reportedly left her 8-month old child in a running car while she went into Walmart for groceries.

Bowling Green Police were called Thursday, around 6:51 p.m., for a vehicle parked in the fire lane that was running with a small child crying in a car seat inside the car.

Shortly after police arrived, the mother, Dawn Michalski, 21, came out of Walmart with a cart of bags. Michalski reportedly told police that she was only inside the store for a couple minutes.

Police cited the mother, who then reportedly said she was only inside for 30 seconds and that the baby was her only child. An officer called Wood County Children’s Services, which advised that Michalski has two other children and is currently under an active investigation.
