Wood County has 3 more deaths, 227 COVID-19 cases

Three more Wood County residents with COVID-19 have died, bringing the total to 34 local deaths, as of the Tuesday, May 12, update from the Wood County Health Department.

The county has 227 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, according to the latest information. 

Of the 34 who have died, 17 were females, and 17 were males. Six were in their 60s, nine in their 70s, 13 in their 80s, and six in their 90s.

Of the total 227 cases in Wood County, 158 are in long-term care facilities – 117 are residents and 41 are staff. Those numbers from long-term care facilities will be updated every Wednesday.

As of this week, the following facilities have cases:

  • SKLD Perrysburg: 49 residents, 3 staff.
  • Kingston Residence of Perrysburg: 43 residents, 15 staff.
  • Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg: 5 residents, 9 staff.
  • The Manor at Perrysburg: 16 residents, 5 staff.
  • Otterbein Perrysburg: 4 residents, 8 staff.
  • Otterbein Pemberville: 0 residents, 1 staff.

The Ohio Department of Health has attributed 22 deaths in Wood County nursing homes to COVID-19 since April 15. The Ohio Department of Health updates the numbers from long-term care facilities weekly.

Of the total 227 cases in the county as of today, those with the virus range in age from 1 to 100, with the median age of 65. Of the local cases, 139 are female and 88 are male.

A total of 59 Wood County residents are currently hospitalized for the virus.
