Wood County saw 25 more COVID cases and one more death from the virus in the past day.
The county is up to 1,648 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 since March, according to the Friday, Sept. 18, update from the Wood County Health Department. That is 25 more cases since Thursday.
The total COVID deaths in the county since March is now 79.
As of today there are 113 active cases in the county, which is six more than on Thursday. Active cases are Wood County residents who are being monitored by the health department according to state and federal isolation criteria.
Of the total 1,648 cases in the county as of today, those with the virus ranged in age from 1 to 102, with the median age of 38. Of those testing positive, 889 were female, and 759 were male.
A total of 145 Wood County residents have been hospitalized for the virus since March.
Of the 79 who have died, three were in their 50s, nine were in their 60s, 20 in their 70s, 32 in their 80s, and 15 in their 90s. Of the deaths, 44 have been females, and 35 have been males.
Every Wednesday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by Zip Code. As of Sept. 16, there were 12 areas in the county with active cases.
The Bowling Green area had the most – with between 46-50 active cases. That compares to between 51 and 55 cases one week ago in the Bowling Green area.
The Perrysburg area had between 16 and 20 cases. Areas with 1 to 5 cases each included Deshler, Fostoria, Grand Rapids, Haskins, Millbury, North Baltimore, Northwood, Portage, Rossford, and Walbridge.
Of the total 1,648 cases in Wood County, at least 335 have been in long-term care facilities – 201 were residents and 134 were staff. Those numbers from long-term care facilities are updated every Wednesday.
The following facilities have had cases, as of Sept. 16:
- SKLD Perrysburg: 50 residents, 9 staff.
- Kingston Residence of Perrysburg: 44 residents, 19 staff.
- Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg: 11 residents, 31 staff.
- The Manor at Perrysburg: 18 residents, 7 staff.
- Heartland of Perrysburg: 28 residents, 15 staff.
- Otterbein Perrysburg: 6 residents, 18 staff.
- Otterbein Pemberville: 3 residents, 8 staff.
- Heritage Corner Health Care, Bowling Green: 1 resident, 3 staff.
- St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg: 1 resident, 5 staff.
- Grand Rapids Care Center: 1 resident, 0 staff.
- Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore: 37 residents, 17 staff.
- Brookdale, Bowling Green: 0 residents, 1 staff.
- Wood Lane Residential Werner House: 1 resident, 1 staff.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, at least 48 of Wood County’s 79 deaths from COVID-19 have occurred in long-term care facilities.
As of cases reported in K-12 schools during the week of Sept. 7, Bowling Green and Perrysburg both reported one student. Eastwood and Otsego both reported one staff member with COVID.
