Four new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) were recently sworn in at the Wood County Juvenile Court. Summer McVicker, Maureen Schroeder, Deborah Schocket and Ron Campbell were sworn in by Judge Dave Woessner at a ceremony held on Feb. 3.
In acknowledging the new class of volunteers, Woessner said, “I am extremely happy to administer the oath to our new CASAs. The assistance our volunteers provide for abused, neglected and dependent children is invaluable. Wood County is fortunate to have individuals willing to step up and make a difference in the lives of so many children.”
The Wood County Juvenile Court CASA program provides an advocate for children who are alleged or found to be abused, neglected or dependent children. The program currently has 27 volunteers who are assisting 50 children throughout Wood County.
The program provides training and ongoing support for its volunteers. Anyone interested in becoming a CASA may contact the program by calling 419-352-3554. Additional information may be obtained at the program’s website www.woodcountycasa.org.
