Wood County reports 2 new deaths from COVID-19

Wood County reported eight new cases and two more deaths from COVID-19 since Monday. 

The county is now up to 13,257 confirmed and probable cases from COVID, 225 deaths and 655 hospitalizations since last March, according to the Thursday, June 3, update from the Wood County Health Department. 

No further information on the new deaths is available.

The county is down to 34 COVID cases per 100,000 residents.

Wood County has surpassed 50% of its residents getting at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. As of today, 66,147 local residents (50.56%) have gotten at least one shot.

Every Thursday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by ZIP codes. As of this week, there are three areas in the county with active cases.

The Perrysburg ZIP code area has the most active cases with 14. The Bowling Green ZIP code area has the next highest, with 11 active cases. Rossford is next with 5.

The latest COVID numbers reported for schools in the county included 3 students and 2 staff: 

  • Bowling Green City Schools: 1 student.
  • Eastwood: 1 student.
  • Northwood: 2 staff.
  • Perrysburg: 1 student.

One long-term care facility in Wood County reported a new COVID case, with a resident of Heartland of Perrysburg testing positive.
