Wood County is now up to 13,052 confirmed and probable cases and 221 deaths from COVID-19 since last March, according to the Thursday, May 6, update from the Wood County Health Department.
That is 57 new cases and three more deaths since the last report on Monday, May 3.
A total of 647 local residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus since last March, with seven more being hospitalized since Monday.
The county has 118.5 cases per 100,000 residents.
As of Thursday, a total of 60,377 local residents have gotten at least their first dose of a COVID vaccine. That is 46.15% of the county population.
Every Thursday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by ZIP codes. As of this week, there are eight areas in the county with active cases.
The Perrysburg ZIP code area has the most active cases with 40. The Bowling Green ZIP code area has the next highest number this week, having 24 active cases. Northwood is next with 19, followed by Walbridge with 13, Rossford with 10, North Baltimore with 8, Bradner with 8, and Millbury with 6.
The latest COVID numbers reported for schools in the county included 7 students and no staff:
- Lake: 2 students.
- Otsego, 1 student.
- Rossford: 3 students.
- Wood County Educational Service Center: 1 student.
Three long-term care facilities in Wood County reported new employee COVID cases, including one at Grand Rapids Care Center, one at Manor at Perrysburg, and two at Otterbein Perrysburg.
