From WOOD COUNTY SUICIDE PREVENTION COALITION
The Wood County Suicide Prevention Coalition seeks passionate and dedicated community members to volunteer as group facilitators for a support group for suicide loss survivors that will launch this summer.
The support group will provide a safe and welcoming space for individuals to process their grief and loss of a loved one due to suicide. Understanding the loss of a loved one to suicide involves unique challenges.
The purpose of the group is to offer peer support and resources to help others navigate through their grief journeys. Connecting with fellow suicide loss survivors who have had a similar experience can be encouraging and supportive.
Volunteer leaders will be responsible for facilitating group discussions twice per month, fostering a compassionate environment, and providing support to group members. The support group will be held at the NAMI Wood County office at 1250 Ridgewood Dr., Bowling Green.
No prior experience is required, but candidates should have a deep empathy for others and a desire to make a positive impact in the community. Training and resources will be provided by the coalition.
Interested individuals are encouraged to contact Courtney Rice at 419-352-0626 or CourtneyR@namiwoodcounty.org.
