Wood County up to 1,240 COVID-19 cases since March

Wood County has 1,240 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 since March, according to the Monday, Aug. 24, update from the Wood County Health Department. That is an increase of 33 cases since Friday.

As of today, 63 people in the county have died from COVID since March.

As of today there are 78 active cases in the county, which is seven fewer than on Friday. Active cases are Wood County residents who are being monitored by the health department according to state and federal isolation criteria.

Of the total 1,240 cases in the county as of today, those with the virus ranged in age from 1 to 102, with the median age of 42. Of those testing positive, 667 were female, and 573 were male. 

A total of 117 Wood County residents have been hospitalized for the virus since March.

Of the 63 who have died, two were in their 50s, seven were in their 60s, 16 in their 70s, 27 in their 80s, and 11 in their 90s. Of the deaths, 33 have been females, and 30 have been males.

Every Wednesday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by Zip Code. As of Aug. 19, there were 14 areas in the county with active cases.

The Bowling Green and Perrysburg areas each had between 21 and 25 active cases. The North Baltimore, Northwood and Rossford areas each had 6 to 10 cases.

Areas with 1 to 5 cases each include Bloomdale, Bradner, Cygnet, Fostoria, Jerry City, Millbury, Pemberville, Portage and Walbridge.

Of the total 1,240 cases in Wood County, at least 294 have been in long-term care facilities – 176 were residents and 118 were staff. Those numbers from long-term care facilities are updated every Wednesday.

  • SKLD Perrysburg: 49 residents, 9 staff.
  • Kingston Residence of Perrysburg: 44 residents, 19 staff.
  • Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg: 11 residents, 29 staff.
  • The Manor at Perrysburg: 18 residents, 7 staff.
  • Heartland of Perrysburg: 27 residents, 13 staff.
  • Otterbein Perrysburg: 6 residents, 18 staff.
  • Otterbein Pemberville: 3 residents, 5 staff.
  • Heritage Corner Health Care, Bowling Green: 1 resident, 3 staff.
  • St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg: 1 resident, 4 staff.
  • Grand Rapids Care Center: 1 resident, 0 staff.
  • Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore: 14 residents, 9 staff.
  • Brookdale, Bowling Green: 0 residents, 1 staff.
  • Wood Lane Residential Werner House: 1 resident, 1 staff.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, at least 47 of Wood County’s 63 deaths from COVID-19 have occurred in long-term care facilities.
