The Woodland Mall has made enough progress fixing fire code violations to avoid being shut down.
Bowling Green Fire Chief Bill Moorman said on Wednesday that the mall management is making progress fixing the most serious fire code violations found at the mall at 1234 N. Main St.
“They’ve taken care of some of them, and they’re working on the rest,” Moorman said.
“We are continuing to work with them to make sure it all gets taken care of,” the chief said.
The fire violations were noted during an inspection in November, and the mall management was given 90 days to fix the fire code deficiencies. The fire division personnel has been making regular visits to the mall to ensure that progress is being made on complying with the code.
The violations included such items as inoperable smoke detectors, non-functioning pull stations, inoperable emergency exit lighting, and the lack of an approved supervising station to monitor the fire alarm system.
