The Animal Rescue Site and GreaterGood.org are giving away thousands of dollars in grant money to eligible animal shelters across the country in a new Shelter Challenge contest, and The Wood County Humane Society is eligible to win.
The New Beginnings Shelter Challenge is a major contest that will give $100,000 in cash grants to eligible shelters that win the most votes in a variety of categories and photo contests. The coveted Grand Prize is a $25,000 grant to help animals, and there are over 50 other grant prizes ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each.
Every participating shelter has an individual contest page that visitors can share via social media, and where they can vote every day. Visitors can also register for an account to support their favorite shelter in other ways, get emailed notifications about new contests, and become eligible for a Sweepstakes prize.
If awarded one of the grant prizes available through the Shelter Challenge, then the Wood County Humane Society has many projects toward which those funds could be devoted. Shelter Manager Erin Moore says that any prize money would go toward either the creation of a catio/outdoor dog kennel or the transformation of the current cat room cages into portals, which would further enhance the everyday living conditions of the cats.
Strong community support makes all the difference in this Shelter Challenge contest, ensuring that all shelters, regardless of size and location, have a chance to win. To take part, visitors can go to the Shelter Challenge website and vote for their favorite shelter once every day, on as many different devices as they like, until July 15.
