Bowling Green Police charged three people for improper use or threatening behavior with guns over the weekend.
On Saturday (Oct. 18) around 11 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of South Prospect Street for a fight. Two groups of males were reportedly walking down the opposite sides of the street when one group began circling the other.
One of the men reportedly had an AR-15 style rifle, according to the police report, and allegedly racked a round into the chamber during the altercation.
The men dispersed, with the gun being put in a vehicle and one group walking to Circle K, at the intersection of East Wooster and North Prospect Street. Police located the four men there, and drove witnesses past them to identify them as part of the incident. A resident near the altercation reportedly gave police cell phone video of the incident.
The rifle was found in the vehicle, with one round in the chamber, a loaded magazine in the vehicle, as well as 11 spent casings.
Casjnase Dubose, 19, of Findlay, was arrested for aggravated menacing, obstructing official business and was taken to Wood County Jail.
Also on Saturday (Oct. 18), around 6:30 p.m., a motorist was pulled over for speeding and having no visible vehicle registration, in the 1000 block of South Main Street.
A shotgun, with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the feed tube was found behind the driver’s seat. The driver, David Henricks, 28, of Tontogany, said he was told he didn’t need registration for the vehicle. A search by dispatch reportedly showed the vehicle hadn’t been registered since 2019, and Henricks was not the owner.
Henricks was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. The truck was towed.
On Friday (Oct. 17), around 11:20 p.m., police stopped to check a parked vehicle with no license plate in the city parking lot at the intersection of North Church Street and West Court Street. Inside were open alcoholic beverages and a gun in the driver’s side door.
The driver, Wilfredo Alejo, 19, of Sandusky, reportedly told police the firearm was a BB gun, but it was a 9 mm handgun, according to the police report.
Alejo was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, and underage possession. He was taken to Wood County Jail.
