Bowling Green Police are investigating the use of counterfeit money at downtown businesses over the weekend.
A restaurant on South Main Street reported that a female used a fake $100 bill to purchase food. Downtown cameras recorded the woman leaving the restaurant and entering a white Jeep Cherokee with a Michigan registration parked on Main Street. The cameras reportedly showed passengers of the vehicle going into other businesses to allegedly try to use counterfeit bills.
Police went to a vape shop on North Main Street, which had been visited by one of the suspects. The shop reportedly accepted the $100 bill, which was used to purchase a beverage and cigarettes, then gave the suspect $84.76 in change.
The investigation is pending.
