ACT casting Silverman’s ‘The Roommate’

From ACTORS COLLABORATIVE TOLEDO

Actors Collaborative Toledo announces auditions for the role of Robyn in its upcoming production of “The Roommate” by Jen Silverman. The production will be directed by Victoria Zajac and will feature Jennifer Nagy-Lake in the role of Sharon.

ACT is seeking an actor to portray Robyn, a woman in her late 30s to early 50s—sharp, guarded, and fiercely self-possessed. She is intelligent, pragmatic, and emotionally armored, with a dry wit and an instinct for self-protection born of hard experience. Robyn has lived many lives and carries the weight of choices made to survive; she is comfortable bending the rules and distrustful of sentimentality. Beneath her tough exterior, however, is a deep capacity for connection and vulnerability that she reveals slowly and selectively.

As the play unfolds, Robyn becomes both catalyst and mirror—challenging expectations about morality, identity, and reinvention, while forcing herself and others to confront who they truly are when safety, companionship, and honesty are on the line. The role calls for an actor capable of balancing restraint with humor, intensity, and unexpected tenderness.

Auditions will be held Sunday, Feb. 22, from 1-–3 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams Street, Toledo. Enter through the Adams Street entrance closest to Summit Street. Auditioners will read from sides provided at the audition.

“The Roommate” will be performed May 15–17.

Actors Collaborative Toledo encourages actors of all races and nationalities to audition.
