From GFWC WOMEN’S CLUB OF BOWLING GREEN

Members of the GFWC Women’s Club of Bowling Green Garden Group recently held its annual planting of flowers at the “Welcome” sign at the north entrance to Bowling Green. Lisianthus, snap dragons, and coleus from local greenhouses were used in the upper planter with mums in the surrounding beds.

The garden group maintains this planting throughout the summer, providing a welcome to the city for visitors from the north.

Following the planting, members gathered at Arby’s for the monthly meeting. President Susan Enright announced recent $100 donations to Downtown BG to support America’s 250th anniversary flowers and to Fostoria Garden Club as a “thank you” for including GFWC Women’s Club of Bowling Green in its “Guest Night.”

The garden group holiday art and craft show theme of “Enjoying our Birds” is gathering items along with contributions to purchase a bird bath. Carol Ballard will continue to follow-up on remembering Linda Myers and Becky Bhaer with plantings at Simpson Hosta Garden.

The June meeting will be a tour of Luckey Lavender Gardens.
